Magnus Walker Porsche 911 930 front aerialMagnus Walker is a Los Angeles based Porsche collector that is known for restoring and more importantly actually using early air cooled Porsche 911s on the roads around his warehouse based home. His ambition was to own every 911 from 1964 to 1973. It is not often that a car that enters his own personal collection ends up back on the market.

He is currently selling a 1977 930 Turbo in black with black leather on eBay with no reserve. Bidding is currently at $111,000 with a day to go. I’d expect to see it reach around $130k by the time the auction ends. SInce this car was originally supposed to be a keeper, he has had the engine properly sorted, and also stripped and rebuilt the transmission.

Rumour is that the only reason why he is letting this one go is because he subsequently found another 1977 930 Turbo in a rarer colour combination, Ice Green Metallic with tartan plaid interior. These early turbo cars are on the rise generally, however the fact that this is a mechanically sorted car owner by the Urban Outlaw itself will make it sell for a significant premium, despite a slightly shabby interior.

CURRENTLY SHOWING 85,550 MILES ON THE CLOCK, I DESCRIBE THIS AS A GREAT DRIVER QUALITY CAR,THAT IS MECHANICALLY SOUND.

THIS IS THE SMOOTHEST RUNNING AND SHIFTING OF ALL THE 75-77 930 TURBOS I OWN,ITS A JOY TO DRIVE

I ACQUIRED THE CAR IN 2013 FROM THE SALT LAKE CITY UTAH AREA WITH 85,155 MILES ON THE CLOCK

AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE LAST SERVICE STAMP IN THE BOOK THE CAR HAD NOT COVERED MANY MILES FROM 6-30-03 WHEN THE BOOK SHOWED 84,112 MILES

APPARENTLY THE PRIOR OWNER -THE 4TH HAD OWNED THE CAR FOR ALMOST 15 YEARS AND HAD SELDOM DRIVEN THE CAR…

WHEN I RECEIVED THE CAR LAST YEAR IT WAS NOT RUNNING TOO WELL AND SAT FOR SOME TIME IN MY GARAGE ALONG SIDE MY OTHER TURBOS WHILST I DECIDED WHAT TO DO WITH IT…….

IN MAY OF THIS YEAR I DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO SEE WHAT WAS UP WITH THE CAR….

AS MY BUDDY MARTY DUG DEEPER INTO THE CAR TO SEE WHY IT WAS NOT RUNNING TOO WELL,WE DECIDED THE BITE THE BULLET AND PULL THE MOTOR OUT…..

LONG STORY SHORT WE DECIDED TO TEAR THE MOTOR DOWN AND REBUILD IT…

THE CASE WAS SPLIT,CLEANED AND INSPECTED..

New Rod Bearings ,piston rings,gaskets,oil lines and hoses,boost pressure switch,clutch release bearing,flywheel bolts-clutch

SOME NEW PARTS WERE ORDERED,OTHERS WERE REFRESHED.

THE MOTOR WAS REBUILT TO STOCK 3.0 LITER – NEW ROD BEARING AND ARP BOLTS

AS THE CAR WAS NOT UNDERGOING A FULL BLOWN RESTORATION -I CHOOSE NOT TO MAKE THE MOTOR TOO BLINGY -JUST A LITTLE CLEANED UP.

The stock muffler was kept in place ,for subdued street driving…

The transmission was also rebuilt -this solved the annoying popping out of first gear issue .

LSD Works fine 🙂

The motor starts right up and goes straight to a smooth idle.

SUNROOF WORKS WELL AS DO THE ELECTRIC MIRRORS AND POWER WINDOWS -RIGHT SIDE IS SLOW GOING UP -ALL GLASS EXCEPT THE FRONT IS TINTED.

HOOD SHOCKS WORK

Added a new windshield as the old one was pitted..

New rubber seal fitted too

NEW BILSTEIN SPORT SHOCKS AND INSERTS WERE ADDED-FRONT STRUT BUSHING REPLACED FOR THE HANDLE BETTER FEEL

NEW BRAKE PADS AND TOYO R888 -225 /50 & 245/50/16 INSTALLED ON 16 -7 & 8 FUCHS HELP SLOW THE CAR DOWN -AS DOES THE 1977 POWER ASSISTED BRAKES.

NEW CVS ADDED

RIGHT SIDE SWAY BAR BRACKET REPLACED –

NEW SWAY BAR BUSHINGS

THE CAR WAS LOWERED TO 24 ” ALL ROUND,CORNER BALANCED – 1.7 DEG OF NEGATIVE CAMBER UP FRONT AND 1.6 DEG IN THE REAR-

IT WEIGHS 2725 WITH 5/8 TANK OF GAS -SPARE TIRE ,JACK AND TOOL KIT..

RUNS AT 210 IN LA FWY TRAFFIC-1ST AND 2ND GEAR ON THE 101 IN RUSH HOUR
