Note from the Editor
We have three very extreme cars in this issue, all pushed the boundaries of their manufacturers and are highly sought after by car enthusiasts. The first is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, a rare, super fast, adrenalin rush. The GT2 RS was the most powerful road going Porsche of all time when it came out, Carrera GT included. It looks like a 911 on steroids, and essentially that is exactly what it is, leaner, muscular and more focussed on ripping up the tarmac with its wide 325 section rear tyres. The GT2 RS will hit 124mph in around 10 seconds. Just 500 were made and every single one was sold before production, only 19 were offered in the UK. This makes the GT2 RS one of the rarest Porsche models of all time. Little wonder that they have been trading at over double their list price recently.
It was no surprise that Lamborghini were going to launch an ultimate edition of the Aventador at some stage, what was a surprise was the addition of an open top version of the ultimate V12 Lamborghini. Our owner Steve was one of a few that put a deposit down with their Lamborghini Dealership to secure a Superveloce Roadster if one was ever released. Within a few months of Steve paying his deposit for a car that didn’t exist, Lamborghini announced that it would be in fact making the model. Sometimes following your instincts can lead you to some very special cars. The Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce is a case in point. Absolutely everything has been sharpened up and honed, the result is a totally transformed Aventador. The Superveloce is without a doubt the ultimate incarnation of a V12 Italian bull.
We have also selected a Ferrari to join the feature cars this month, like the Lamborghini it houses a V12, but everything else is different. Front mounted versus mid mounted engine. The 599 GTB Fiorano is Clark Kent, with Superman hidden within and ready to reveal at a moments notice. Although it is stated that the 599 has a ‘detuned’ Enzo engine, the changes
that were made to the unit actually make it all the better in 599 format. Exceptionally fast, classy and understated – plus still the relative bargain in the Ferrari stable.
